What Worked
Shane McMahon rode the coattails of last weeks interview and being sandwiched between two of the best actors in the business so he was in another segment that worked this week but I really don't see his appeal lasting too long. He's a nebbish. Ok, Vince did go overboard this week condeming himself to hell but everything up to that point was classic.

I sure like Hawk acting dopey more than Scott Hall acting drunk. Droz beating his ass and Hawk paying his karmic dues by selling the whole time was great. And Animal laying down the tough love was the right way to play out his role in the angle.

The Rock and Ken Wayne had the best match on the show even with the shaky booking. It was decent but going nowhere until Shamrock hit a way cool rana, which wasn't picture perfect but the elevation he got was awesome. The near falls got good heat but the finish made not a lot of sense since if that was the plan all along why didn't Shamrock go for the DQ when he was in serious danger of getting pinned? Maybe I'm thinking too much.

The cage stuff at the end of the show was pretty good since I was actually surprised the way the angle played out. Of course, they could have made Bossman look stronger in the cage, and having Shane McMahon ostensibly save Steve Austin is going to kill his character. And the show did go off the air with the same three guys fighting each other again for the 63rd time this year. But it was enough to make me happy.

What Didn't Work
DX vs. The Brood was good and going to make it up top but then Kane came out for his bi-monthly monster push and ruined the match and then the rest of the show.

Al Snow & Mankind are too good to be doing comedy matches but if this is all just a ruse to get them over with the t-shirt buying public then I'll forgive it but for now the wrestling will be crap and the interviews will at least making it worth slowing down for.

I hang my head in shame at the re-debut of Steve Regal since outside of a kick ass theme song that everyone will be singing thinking they're being all sarcastic but deep down inside secretly think is really, really cool, and a maybe working in a pissing off the rubes kind of way hard hat, this was like watching two green indy workers which isn't shocking coming from Rhodes but is coming from Regal. The good thing about Kane's walk-in is that it kind of erased the memory of the stinkiness of it all.

Val Venis and Jeff Jarrett had one of those maybe ok if I was paying attention Raw matches but I'm sure that it would be giving it too much benefit of doubt to approve it. I disagree with all the horn dogs out there, McMichael's new look adds ten years to her. The Blue Blazer! All right!

The Headbangers, D-Lo and Henry carrier pigeoned it in because they knew Kane was coming out anyway. More must channel surf TV.

Owen Hart tries to do another angle to get his heat back but I don't see it lasting more than a week. Nobody cares about Severn in the first place so nobody cares that he was "injured". Have Owen fry some really big fish if you want him to mean anything.

Having somewhat moved up in the world lately I'm finally in a position where ordering PPVs again is a financial possibility and what better one to start back with than Survivor Series? Only problem is that a 16-man tournament that will be filled with short matches, overbooking to fit all the matches in on time, and some needless rushed "special attraction" matches doesn't sound like a stellar show. And the promise of all the same boring guys who've been at the top of the card all year still being at the top of the card makes the next nights Raw sound like the more entertaining show. I'll wait and see what Starrcade offers.
