You would think at some point the Kings would get tired of getting fleeced by the 76ers. |

"We'll swap you're pick back to you, but we want our pick back and the #10."
"Okay!"
The 76ers also have a load of 2nd round picks as well.
Of course the 76ers would need to convert on those picks, which has been a bit of a problem for them. But unless they're obsessed about a PG, they might be wise to trade down and take Jackson or Tatum to play next to Simmons. |

Woj, and the ESPN tag-team of Zach Lowe and Marc Stein said separately that the 76ers and Celtics are deep into a trade in which Boston would trade #1 to Philly for #3 and a future 1st rounder.
I was expecting the Celts to trade #1. I just wasn't expecting a trade for #3.
I guess Ainge must have a plan to make sure the Celts are going to go all in, this year. |

This trade makes a lot of sense. Supposedly Ainge wants to pick Josh Jackson. He should still be available at #3, plus he can get additional assets in the trade. Fultz would be perfect for the 76ers since they could use a point guard who can shoot. The core of Fultz, Simmons, Embiid, and Saric could be really good for many years, health allowing.

Well with Fultz, there was always the dilemma of him trying to find playing time with Isaiah Thomas, and they figured that maybe this isnt the right time for Fultz, given how close they can get to the Eastern title.
Supposedly, Jimmy Butler is who the Celts are eying. They may trade some draft picks for him. |

My guess is that if Ainge wants Jackson (or Fox), he's going to hose the 76ers out. Here's what the 76ers have in the tank:
2017 Kings #1 (3rd overall)
2018 76ers #1
2018 Lakers #1 (finally unprotected)
2019 76ers #1
2019 Kings #1 (unprotected)
2020 76ers #1
2021 76ers #1
Now they can't straight up trade for back-to-back 76ers #1's, but they can do the same "pick swap" that will net the Celtics three straight Nets #1's from 2016-2018.
The 76ers will likely be bad again this season even with Fultz. That's going to be a pick that has a fair amount of lottery balls in addition to the Nets pick.
The Lakers aren't going to be very good this season. It will again be a struggle to win 30 games. That's a useful pick.
The Kings are going to be a trainwreck for years to come. They will still suck in 2018/19, so that's a good pick.
The question is how much of a Celtics-Nets style fleece job can Danny pull off? Can he get three #1's? The #1 this year, the Lakers #1 next year, and the Kings #1 in 2019? The 76ers might talk themselves into that since those other picks aren't "their own", they still would have their picks in the coming year to add to Emig+Simmons+Fultz... maybe they talk themselves into that.
If Bron is heading to the Western Conference after 2017/18, then Ainge has a lot of cap room and a load of assets heading into next off season:
2018 Nets #1 (unprotected)
2018 Lakers #1 (finally unprotected)
2018 Celtics #1
2019 Kings #1 (unprotected)
2019 Clippers #1 (protected)
2019 Grizzzzzz #1 (protected)
2019 Celtics #1
Along with a lot of cap space as they could pull the plug on giving Thomas a monster extension.
Danny knows the post-Lebron era in the East isn't that far off, even if Bron stays in CLE (they're cap screwed). The Post-Warriors era is further off, but you can start tinkering with it now. That's kind of the great position the Celtics are in - they can roll out a 50+ win Eastern Team next season, they might be able to slap something together short team in 2018/19 & 2019/20 to contend for the EC title, while doing a back-door rebuilding project. |

I dunno. If they're able to stay healthy, and they draft Fultz, they might be a playoff team next year. They were in a lot of close battles down the stretch last year, and that was with some of their stars on the shelf. All they need are vets who will sacrifice a lot, to be part of the rebuilding 76ers. |

So on Monday, the Celts-76ers trade becomes official. Fultz to Philly for #3.
Celts fans better hope Ainge has something up his sleeve. |

Cavs may have to attend to other business though as they need a new GM, with David Griffin leaving. A surprising name thats being considered is ESPN's Chauncey Billups. As farfetched as that sounds, remember TY Lue won a title, in his first season as head coach.
I also wonder if Billups is a directive from Bron. Ala Ty Lue.
EDIT: Apprently Dan Gilbert didnt tell Bron that Griffin was going to get the ax, and Bron wanted an extension for Griffin. Looks like we might be headed to Decision 3, one year from now. |

More wackiness as Dwight Howard gets shipped to the Hornets. And he's burnt yet another bridge perhaps. |
