For a long time, the NFL having the biggest ratings in sports seemed like a sure thing. But this past year, with the growing incompentence of the league, concerns over player safety, and oversaturation, the NFL has been suffering declines in the ratings, that they havent had, in years.
Maybe the biggest eye-opener of that, was last night when the World Series beat the NFL in the ratings. Not only that, it was also against a game which featured, the biggest draw in the league in Dallas, which is having its best season in a long time. Of Course this world series features two teams that have been a stranger to the World Series in recent years, Cleveland, and the Chicago Cubs. That has played a factor for sure.
Its not just the World Series, that should worry the NFL. The NBA came off one of the hottest ends to its season, last June. And with Durant taking his talents to Golden State, the ratings are sure to be very high, come Christmas, and Durant's return to OKC. Not to mention, if we get Warriors/Cavs III this June, that might have a chance to be the highest-rated Finals. |
