If Congress sending a friendly letter to WWE wasn't bad enough, Bryan Alvarez is reporting that Raw on Monday night drew a disastrous 2.5 rating, down a whopping 0.9 from the disappointing 3.4 average rating they've drawn over the last 3 weeks. That would be the lowest non-holiday rating for Raw in almost a decade.
I'd say WWE is right to be extremely worried by this. Bonnie Hammer of the USA network was already known to be frustrated about Raw's soft ratings. If Raw's ratings continue to crash, cancellation of the show, the ultimate Doomsday scenario for the company, is definitely a possibility, especially with more bad publicity seeming inevitable. |

The most likely scenario is the plug gets pulled on ECW because NBC (or whoever the parent company is for USA and Sci-Fi) tells WWE they aren't going to be allowed two separate shows anymore, given that neither is doing well in the ratings (Raw being the other).
Smackdown is being brought back for another season on CW, but I wonder if those execs are thinking about moving on without it in the near future. |
