I don't think the line up handling was the last straw, or he would have been fired earlier:

May 3: Clips job to Grizzzzzz
May 21: Vinny let go

You don't wait around 18 days after a last straw.

My guess is that it was more like this:

May 3: Clips job to Grizzzzzz
May 20: CP3 tells Clips that Vinny needs to go
May 21: Vinny let go

:)
Well they didnt as Del negro was fired. obviously the way the lineup was handled on their last game, was the final straw.

So Chris Paul is the big winner here, as a coach to his liking could get him that long-term deal with the Clips that the team wants.

Magic clearly forgets about Steve Nash (and Tim Duncan) and Bridgestone. Or maybe Magic is still just a little bit jealous that he wasn't a major endorser in the NBA, and missed out on the money that Jordan and others received?
Converse with Larry Bird isn't big time money...McDonalds with Bird/Jordan is.
I mentioned this is the general thread but I wanted to talk about it here, since it relates to the Clips.

It dawned on me a few minutes ago, that maybe the real reason for that rant was that Magic is getting a bit jealous over the fact that the Clips are dominating the commercials, while the Lakers have 0. Magic must feel nervous with the ad nausam showings of those commercials.

Just a weird theory I just formulated in my head.

I didn't get the last two "T" on Paul & Zach. What was going on? Was Joey Crawford just going nuts? How about the wrestling match between Randolph & Blake! That would have been the right spot to kick Zach out. Griffin ended up looking over rated. He got punked.

So the Clips greatest year in history lasted two games longer that the Lakers!

I would say the Clipper's year was more disappointing that the Lakers...well I guess no one cares about the Clips.--Yohe

This was a riot to watch. For all the wrong reasons.

This has to be Vinny's last game. A very confusing lineup in the homestretch with Grant Hill, Billups and Willie Green playing big minutes. No word on why Jamal Crawford sat for the entire 2nd half. Just a lot of odd decision-making by Vinny.

Also interesting to see Chris Paul take a page out of Dwight Howard's book and get tossed during the elimination game.

I watched the Clip game last night because I was rooting for the Grizzzzz to beat them. That was my draw: hoping the Clippers lost. :)

And Yohe's point is true:

For all the talk about this becoming a Clippers Town, that's total and utter bullshit. This was the greatest Clippers team in history, with a wildly exciting CP3 leading an exciting teams... and this is still a Lakers Town. More people want to talk about the Lakers' disaster of a season than they want to talk about the Clips great season.

This is similar to baseball. The Halos have had a good run, including a World Title, since the last time the Dodgers were truly a WS contender (which was 1991 when they finished 2nd to the Braves in the NL West). It doesn't matter: more people wanted to talk about what assholes the McCourts were than what the Halos were doing.

It takes decades to change stuff like that. The Clips aren't going to change that overnight. God Lord... folks need to remember that the Lakers aren't ancient history:

World Titles: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010

Everyone in this town has a recent memory of the Lakers being great... and most have recent memories of two different Lakers dynasties.

It's tough for the Clips to overcome.

I went out to eat tonight & taped the game. I considered it the biggest game in the Clip's biggest season (until the next game), but I was hungry. John knows the feeling.

The place I go to is a restaurant/sports bar. It seems the bar is the only section that makes money and it's always full when the Lakers play. I'm one of the best customers in the restaurant side & I'm always telling them to not talk about the Lakers because I'm taping at home.

Tonight, with the Clips biggest game playing, the bar was empty. No one was there. As I left I looked in, & the clip game was playing to open spaces. No cares about the Clips.

I can't believe John watched the game or even thought about it. My theory is that Clipper fans are just Laker fans who can't get tickets to Laker games.

So now Marc Gasol is the best NBA center. I believe it, after watching the Clips get beatten down a third time in a row. Sure looks like Blake Griffin is over rated.

I'm taping Friday's game too, because I'm going to be watching Ironman 3.--Yohe
A season of small victories.
So Blake's hurt and the Clips are going to be on the brink of elimination.

I think Laker Nation breathes a sigh of relief. seeing the Clips possibly fail to advance past the 1st round. And the possible axing of Vinny Del Negro. Shows that the Clips have some work to do, to overtake the Lakers in LA.

The Clippers looked good in this building up a lead, dealing with everything the Grizzzzzzz threw at them... then seemed to get Del Negro'd. Memphis came back, the Clips suddenly looked horrid, and Memphis could easily have won the game. Then the Anti Del Negro came into play: CP3's ability to pull his team's ass out of the fire.

The Clips are really talented, and have a nutty deep bench of quality players. They also happen to have the shittiest coach in the post season. This is a team that if a simply "good" coach, like say Rick Adleman, were in charge, they might be the favorites in the West. With Del Negro... yeah...
